Accomplished Doctoral-level Nurse Practitioner

As a family nurse practitioner and director of emergency medical service at Winnie Community Hospital in Texas, Dr. W. Bryan Sims oversees all aspects of emergency care while attending to inpatient and family medicine patients. He chairs the hospital's Emergency Service Committee and serves on both the Medical Staff Committee and Credentialing Committee while also traveling to local emergency medical services (EMS) providers to offer in-service lectures. Dr. W. Bryan Sims comes to this role having achieved success as chief medical officer of Southeast Texas Medical Associates in Beaumont, where he developed and implemented evidence-based practice and facilitated a shift toward patient-centered care. During his tenure, the hospital advanced to a recognized Tier III Medical Home.

Dr. W. Bryan Sims earned his a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) from the University of Texas. He also holds both master's and bachelor's degrees in nursing and stands out as a registered nurse and board-certified family nurse practitioner. Dr. Sims also serves as assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Texas, where he teaches in the Department of Acute and Continuing Care and contributes to the advancement of the nursing community as advisor to the American Medical Association's Relative Value System Update Committee.
