Susan Eloise Hinton
She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was and still is, one of the most popular and best known writers of young adult fiction. Her first novel was The Outsiders, published in 1967. Susan's boyfriend, became sick of being depressed and this led to one of her books, That Was Then, This Is Now, published in 1971. in 1975 she published her shortest novel, Rumble Fish. Tex was published in 1979, and in 1983, the movie of The Outsiders was released. The same year, her son was born, and the movie of Rumble Fish was published too. In 1988, she received an Author Achievement Award. Taming The Star Runner was released in October of that year. In 1995 she released Big David, Little David that was written for children around the kindergarten age. Her latest release was The Puppy Sister, which is a fantasy book written for Elementary school level children. S.E. Hinton currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband David. Her son Nick is away for college.
