Set designer Eugene Lee
Eugene Lee is an amazing man with a creative mind. He designed the set for Wicked which is well known all around Australia and even the world. He was born in Beloit Wisconsin, 1939. Mr. Lee has won Tony Awards for Bernstein's Candide, Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Wicked, as well as the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design. When Mr. Lee grew up in a family that was already heavily involved in theater, his father was an actor and his mother helped out in the theater community. He went to Beloit Memorial High School and two other universities where he received his Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts. Eugene Lee loved the theater when he was a little boy and has continued to follow his dream and passion. In 1967, Lee was only 28 years old and became a designer at Trinity Reparatory Company. Wicked, The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz was a major part of his career where he created an amazing set design that caught the eye, amazed, astonished and delighted people all around the world.
