Willie Nelson: Biography

Willie Nelson, a major influence in outlaw country music and the legalization of pot. Besides his bad habits, Willie has influence in other matters like the ban of saluting wild horses and he set up “Farm Aid” an organization to show the importance of farm families.

Willie was born April 30, 1933 and was raised by his grandparents after the abandonment of his mother and death of his father. With only grandparents and his sister, Bobbie Lee, Willie had worked in cotton fields and playing guitar in Polk bands in his free time. He first started playing the guitar at age six and picked it up extraordinarily quick. During his teenage years he played at high school dances and honky-tonks and working at a local radio station, by the time he graduated he was a DJ there. He sold his first song "No Place for Me" after serving in the Air Force briefly; he was discharged because of back issues, which would stick with him for years
to come. In 1952, he got married to Martha, his first wife and had two children.

He sold his first few songs to well-known country singers like, Patsy Cline ("Crazy"), Faron Young ("Hello Walls") and Ray Price ("Night Life"). After touring with his band and singing a duet with Shirley Collie, whom he would later take as his second wife, his career still did not
progress even after joining 'Ol Opry America’s oldest live radio station. This career crisis made him decide to stop selling his songs to others and singing and preforming them himself. His first two albums "Shotgun Willie" and "Phases and Stages", helped him get noticed. In 1975, his album "Red-Headed " was the bestselling country album in history propelled Willie into stardom and into people’s hearts.

In 1878, Willie started to ease into a movie and television career after showing to be such a natural in front of the camera. He stared in many moves, his first opposite Robert Redford and Jane Fonda in The Electric Horseman (1979). His took to leading roles as a country music star in Honeysuckle Rose (1980), which would include a number of his songs on the soundtrack. He played opposite James Caan and Tuesday Weld in Thief (1981) and a legendary outlaw in the western Barbarossa (1982). In the movie Red Headed Stranger (1986), which was adapted from his hit 1975 album, he played a preacher, and he teamed up with pal Kris Kristofferson as a pair of country singers in Songwriter (1984). He even received the Kennedy honors in 1998 and got into the country music hall of fame in 1993, but those were the good old days now Willie is facing harder times. Right now he is in a $16.7 million debut with the IRS and the suicide of one of his sons Billy.

In conclusion Willie Nelson had, and is still having a very eventful life and will be famous through the history and future of country music.

Always On My Mind- lyrics Maybe I didn't treat you Quite as good as I should have Maybe I didn't love you Quite as often as I could have Little things I should've said and done I just never took the time But you were always on my mind You were always on my mind Maybe I didn't hold you All those lonely, lonely times I guess I never told you That I am so happy that you're mine If I made you feel second best I'm so sorry I was blind But you were always on my mind You were always on my mind Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died Give me, give me one more chance To keep you satisfied I'll keep you satisfied Little things I should have said and done I just never took the time But you were always on my mind You were always on my mind.

Crazy- Lyrics
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so lonely  I'm crazy crazy for feeling so blue I knew that you'd love me as long as you wanted And then some day you'd leave me for somebody new Worry, why do I let myself worry  Wondering what in the world did I do I'm crazy for thinking that my love could hold you I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying  And I'm crazy for loving you I'm crazy for thinking

On The Road Again- Lyrics
One, two One, two, three, four On the road again Just can't wait to get on the road again The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again On the road again Goin' places that I've never been Seein' things that I may never see again And I can't wait to get on the road again On the road again Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway We're the best of friends Insisting that the world keep turning our way and our way Is on the road again I just can't wait to get on the road again The life I love is making music with my friends And I can't wait to get on the road again On the road again Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway We're the best of friends Insisting that the world keep turning our way and our way Is on the road  can't wait to get on the road again The life I love is making music with my  I can't wait to get on the road again And I can't wait to get on the road again
