Chemical bonds

Ionic Bonds

Occurs when one or more electrons from one atom are removed and attached to to anther atom, this results in negative and positive ions which attract each other.

Properties of Ionic Bonds

Ionic bonds have a high high melting point and are only conductive when dissolved in water.

Covalent Bonds

Occurs between two of the same type of element or elements close to each other on the periodic table. Atoms share electrons in order to reach noble gas configuration.

Properties of Covalent Bonds

Low melting and boiling point and poor conductors.

Metallic Bonds

The reaction between molecules within metals called alkali reactive force.

Properties of Metallic Bonds

Good conductors, malleability, and luster.
