When your vocal cords become inflamed & swollen. Cold or the flu or irritation from allergies or smoking. Use of inhaled steroid medicines. Viral infections such to those that cause cold & flu.
Lots of fluids and sleep. Also talking as less as possible. Also antibiotics. A ear nose or throat specialist.
Wash your hands often and avoid contact with people with colds. Don't smoke and avoid secondhand smoking. Limit alcohol & caffeine.
