Course content and rationale

An introduction to educational media with an emphasis on applications of computer technology in education; general models for computer usage in education and educational institutions; and case studies of specific projects in terms of approach, effectiveness, and implications for the future. Emphasis will be on the application of educational media within the K-12 school curriculum. Prerequisite: For education majors only. Semester course, three hours. As new teachers you will be expected to understand, navigate, operate, incorporate, and use technology meaningfully and purposefully in your classroom. This class will give you a foundation to work from in order to understand the “why” of technology integration along with the “how” and the “what”. It will also focus on how incorporate these tools effectively in K-12 education settings.
