The Columbian Exchange
Exchange between the old and new worlds!
Did you know that some of the products we know and love today might not have ever made it to this continent? When Columbus began his explorations and inspired many others to do the same, he began this process of exchange. Items from the "old world" (Europe, Asia, Africa) began to show up in the "new world" (North and South America) and like wise items from the new world began being taken back to the old world.
Tomato's came from the new world and went back to the old world. Today Italy uses tomato sauce for their pasta and pizza made with tomato sauce.
Peppers came from the new world and it went to the old world and now people eat them alone. Sometimes people use crushed red pepper on their pizza!
They came from the old world and went to the new world. Now the new world can have milk.
They came from the old world and went to the new world. So now the new world have honey.
They came from the new world to the old world. So now the old world can have chocolate.
