infant conssious choking

1.check baby-if baby cannot cough, cry, or breath,he is choking and needs your help

2.call 911- send someone to call 911. if no one is available to call provide care first

3.position baby-support baby's face with hand on the jaw and the baby's body along the forearm

4.give 5 back blows-holding the baby's head below the feet give five back blows between the shoulder blades

5.turn baby over-hold the back of the head and sandwich the body between the fore arms and turn it over

6.give 5 chest thrusts- place fingers on the sternum in the center of the chest and give 5 chest thrust

7. repeat steps 3-5

Adult/child Unconscious Choking

1.position person-lower person safely to the ground

2.call 911-if 911 has not been called send someone to call 911 and get an AED if available

3.30 compression-using 2 hands on adult and one on a child and your pinky finger for an infant give thirty compression at a rate of 100 per minute at least followed by an object check

4.open airway-open airway by using a head tilt, look in throat for obstruction

5.give 2 breaths-open airway and give two breaths if the breath doesn't go in check for another object and sweep the object out then try again if it does give another immediately

6. re-position and reattempt- if air does not go in re-position and reattempt if it still does not go in continue compression's

7. give 30 compression's-using 2 hands on an adult and 1 on a child give 30 chest compression'sat a rate of 100 per minute, followed by a object check

8.check for object-if object is seen use a finger sweep to clear it out.then reapeat steps 5-8

Adult/Child CPR

1.check scene-check for safety, apply gloves, prepare face shield

2.check person-check for responsiveness by holding head still, tapping and shouting. look at chest and face to determine no normal breathing

3.call 911-if baby is unresponsive or in a life threatening situation send some one to call 911 and get an AED if available

4.30 compression's-use 2 hands for an adult and 1 for a child to give 30 chest commpression's at a rate of 100 per minute at least 2" deep on an adult and 1/3 of the width of the chest deep

5. open air way-open airway using a head tilt-chin lift technique check for any obstructions in the mouth

6.give 2 breaths-give 2 breaths lasting 1 second each and make sure the chest rises and falls

7.continue CPR-continue a cycle of 30 chest compressions to 2 breaths until help arrives

Infant CPR

1.check scene-check for safety,apply gloves, and prepare face shield

2.check person-check for responsiveness by holding head still, taping and shouting, look at chest and face to determine no normal breathing

3.call 911-if the baby is unresponsive or in a life threatening position send someone to call 911 and get an AED if available

4.3o chest compressions-using 2 fingers going 1/3 the depth of the chest give 30 compressions at a rate of 100 per minute

5.open air way-using a head tilt-chin lift technique look into the mouth for any obstructions

6.give 2 breaths-give 2 breaths lasting 1 second each covering the mouth and nose making sure the chest rises and falls with each breath

7.continue CPR-give cycles of 30 commpressions followed by 2 breaths

Bleeding

1.check person-ask "I'm trained in first aid ,can I help you?"

2.call 911-send someone to call 911

3.direct pressure-apply gloves. use gauze or other barrier materiel to apply pressure to the wound site raise wound if no fracture is suspected

4.pressure bandage-apply more barrier materiel if needed and a pressure bandage

5.recheck-check for capillary refill,skin color, and skin temperature to make sure the bandage is not to tight. loosen if neccesarry

adult/child conscious choking

stand be hind victim with one leg in between the patients legs. with the other behind you. Place the back side of your fist just above the belly button.grab the back of your fist with the other hand.give abdominal thrusts to the patient until object comes out or patient goes unconscious.

AED

1. check scene-make sure there is no danger

2.check patient-check the patient by tapping and yelling, also make sure the patient is in no standing body of water or on a metal

3.call 911-send some one to call 911

4.turn on machine-press the on button and wait for the machines directions

5.clear chest-clear chest of clothes excess hair water and other foreign materials

6.place pads-FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ON PAD PLACEMENT, directions will be on the pads, connect the write size pad for your patient to the machine and then place the pads were told and wait for directions from machine. make sure the pads are firmly on the patient

7.stand clear-well the AED analyzes don't touch the patient.if shock is advised yell "clear" and make sure no one is touching the body, if no shock is advised continue cpr

8.give shock-if the AED says shock press the shock button

9.give CPR-immediately after the shock give cpr in a cycle of 30 commpresions to 2 breaths until signs of life or new instructions or ems arrives

infant unconnciouss choking

1.check scene-check scene for safety

2.call 911-send someone to call 911 or activate EMS

3.give 30 chest compressions-give 30 chest commpressions with 2 fingers in the middle of the chest

4.open air way-open air way and attempt two breaths

5. finger sweep-if breaths don't go in per form an object sweep with the finger

6.continue cpr-continue this cycle of 30 compressions every 2 breaths until help arrives or signs of life occur
