The Zipper

By: Quatrey Battle

The Zipper is something used to attach two pieces of clothing together. The zipper has opened a door to new inventions such as the "plastic zipper" velcro. This item was created by Whitcomb L. Judson and Gideon Sundback in 1891.  Back then, the zipper was used for a lot more things than just jackets and pants. It was originally used to keep fabric together for a period until the workers needed to undo it to work again. Now they are mostly used for jackets, tents, sleeping bags, and jeans.
