Voltaire was probably the most important philosopher of The Enlightenment. His real  name was Francois-Marie Arouet. He was a French philosopher and writer during the Age of Enlightenment.It was his philosophy that believed organized religion was not good. He was sent to prison at least twice because he criticized the French authorities and was eventually banned from Paris. He wrote mainly about political an religious freedom. His ideals helped others to realize the doings of the church.
