End of School
It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to a close. May is a busy month! There will be testing for kindergarten, first, and second grade students. All students and teachers will be working hard to reteach and clarify this year's learning. In addition, students are learning a great deal of new concepts in order to prepare them for the start of the next school year. Although the year is winding down, the learning is not; please make sure your child is in school on time every day.
Please pay careful attention to the calendar of events on the school website. There is a great deal of activity in the coming month, and we want you to be informed. Please contact your child's teacher with any questions.
What is Leadership Day?
You may have heard your child talking about Leadership Day and are wondering what all the fuss is about. Leadership Day is a special opportunity for our school to open its doors to the community to show off the great things that are happening here. By implementing The Leader in Me process, we have built a unique environment where the principles, practices, and foundations of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People are embedded into our culture. The Leader in Me process defines our school operations, permeates instructional practice and curriculum, and is the basis of a vibrant leadership development approach for both students and staff. The community members who attend our Leadership Day will be immersed in our leadership culture with presentations from students, tours of our leadership zones, and visits to classrooms.
This is an opportunity for our students to show how our school works in an authentic, real-world way. This is a culmination of a year's worth of supporting students as they become independent leaders. The students run the entire event. Talk to your child about how their class is getting ready to show the community how awesome it is at Beach Elementary.
Since this event is for community, business, and school leaders, parents miss out on a wonderful opportunity to see our students shine. We are pleased to announce that there will be a Leadership Day just for parents on May 20th. Look for additional information to be sent home soon. Contact your child's teacher if you have any questions.
