Armoured fighting vehicles are classified according to their intended role on the battlefield and characteristics. This classification is not absolute; at different times different countries will classify the same vehicle in different roles. There may also be hybrid vehicles, such as the Stryker family of AFVs. Raketenjagdpanzer (anti-tank missile launcher) is the designation of a range of German dedicated tank destroyers equipped with anti-tank guided missiles. The Leopard is a main battle tank designed and produced in West Germany that first entered service in 1965.
