Tasks and Duties: The biologist study fish and gather information on all the different species of fish. You can either choose on studying population, or they can choose to study the eating habits of the fish. They also study how to remedy fish habitat-related problems like all the pollution and bad habitats for the fish.

Salary Range: In May of 2013 Wildlife Biologists and Zoologists made roughly $60,000 a year, but that was said to increase by 5% between 2012-2022.

Education Requirements: The minimum qualification for a Fisheries Biologists is a bachelor's with a major in biological science. At least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects, at least 12 semester hours in zoology.

Skills Required: Experience from the education learned.

Additional Training: After college you can be hired as certain levels of the job. The first levels are GS-5 and GS-7, but after taking 2 years of training and then after completion will be moved up to a GS-9

Work Hours: 30-40 hours a week.

Physical activity involved: There is a good amount of physical activity involved, they are constantly studying and getting involved in the environment because in order to study the fish, you need to be with the fish.

Working Conditions: Both indoors and outdoors. You can work outdoors studying the fish and taking samples etc.. and also working indoors gathering all the information and analyzing it.

Personality Qualities: You have to enjoy the outdoors and not be afraid of harmful objects such as snakes and spiders because they are constantly outside in waters studying any type of fish or anything that deals with the fish. You have to be an outdoor enthusiast.

Education Programs: Clemson University offers a degree directly involved in Fisheries Biology. North Carolina State and Eastern Carolina University offers it as well.
