One for the Murphys
by: Lynda Mullaly Hunt
In this book Carley's stuffed animal giraffe is very important to her because it is the only thing that she really has left with her to love. Carley's mom was in the hospital so she had to live with a caring foster family. So this giraffe is a object that Carley Connors loves.
Throughout this book, Carley Connors is very good at playing and teaching basketball. One of the brothers in the foster family played basketball and Carley taught him some skills. Also basketball reminds her of her mother who always cheered for her when she played back home.
This object is used a lot in this book. The Murphys are so kind and loving to and Carley and everyone they know even Carley's friend who doesn't like the Red Sox and the Mr.Murphy likes the Red Sox. That is why I chose this object/symbol.
In this book Carley's friendship went through ups and downs. This object is very important to Carley because she and Toni (her friend) were not really friends when they met at school. They became friends and really cared about each other.
Since the beginning of this book this object/person was very kind to Carley. She cooks a good dinner for the family every night and acts like Carley's own mom. She is very important in Carley's life and throughout the book.
