Three Billy Goats Gruff
By Glen Rounds
The three Billy Goats Gruff had to cross over a swift river
under the bridge lived a ugly troll
The first and second goat implied to the troll that the bigger goat is coming
infer: The second goat said that because he didn't want the troll to eat him
infer: The troll listened to the first and second goat because the troll might be more satisfied with the bigger goat.
I've got sharp horns to butt you with! and hard hooves to trample you with!
infer: The biggest billy goat said that because he was defending himself.
Who's that tramping over my bridge said the troll?
infer: The troll said that because he was intimidating whoever crossed his bridge.
