Information about the roman army
To be apart of the army you had to be Roman citizen and you had to be 1.6m tall, you had to be pretty fit and you were expected to stay in the army for 25 years. The main part of the army was the Legion, the Legion was made up of 5000 men all under the command of the Legate. The legion was made up of 10 cohorts, each cohort was made up of 6 centuries. The centuries were leaded by a centurion. Centuries were originally made up of 100 men. The centurions were very important men back in the Roman days. They were responsible for training the soldiers under their order, and making sure every body has obeyed orders. Some Centurions were very cruel and took advantage of their power.
