BLOOD IS THICKER
PAUL LANGAN & D.M BLACKWELL
HAVE YOU EVER FELT LIKE YOUR LIFE HAS CHANGE WHEN YOU BECOME IN A PREDICAMENT THAT YOU THOUGHT YOU WOULD NEVER BE IN, WHILE HAVING PARENTS WHO IS DEALING WITH HEALTH ISSUES AND ALSO NOT ABLE TO AFFORD TO TAKE CARE OF BILLS, AND HAVING TO LIVE WITH MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY WHO YOU HAVE DISAGREEMENTS WITH? WELL THIS IS WHAT SOME PEOPLE CONSIDER A NIGHTMARE
The protagonist Hakeem is a very kindhearted young man, who is well respected by his family members. He lives in California and attends Bulford High School. He had to break up with his girlfriend Darcey and move to Detroit because his father couldn't pay the bills. Because he was sick with cancer. He moved in with his uncle James and his cousin Savon. He hated the place and he wasn't on good terms with his cousin Savon. He would tease him a lot which made Hakeem wonder why he hated him. Then he over heard about Savon's plans on Friday but couldn't hear what they were doing. The next morning Hakeem was then put to work at his uncle's store.
The antagonist is Hakeem's cousin Savon who doesn't like Hakeem , and later Hakeem begins to notice when Savon sneaks out a store is robbed. Eventually Hakeem follows Savon at night and when he does he discovers Savon is actually a rapper. While at the club, he walks into the bathroom. A group of boys come into the bathroom and try to rob him. Savon and his friends come into the bathroom and defend him. This caused their relationship to grow and they became good friends.
quote- "Right now, I am just trying to survive out here, that's all. The more you all say I am perfect, the more I want to go home to the people that know me 'cause none of them would treat me like this" ( page 148).
I recommend this book to people that like mysteries and a little bit of drama because it could be interesting to those who can relate to it.
