The Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights to me is basically your rights in a nutshell. It gives you 10 amendments that gives you something that your hopefully born with. Gives you rights of religion, speech,petition, press, and assembly. And more and that is just one amendment. There's more to be said.

1st Amendment

Gives you the freedom of religion, assembly, petition, press, and speech. Freedom of religion:when you can have your own belief and no one can force you to change it, only you. Freedom of assembly:when you can be in a group without getting broken up for no reason. Freedom of press:when you can publish anything you want if its not slandering someone. Freedom of Petition: I think it means that you can let people sign up for anything. And Freedom of Speech:to say anything basically.

2nd Amendment

Gives you the right to bear arms, which basically means that you have the right to carry guns, knives, any kind of self defense weapons.

3rd Amendment

In any time of war or peace, you may not quarter any troops/soldiers in your home, without your permission. Basically, letting them live in your house and feeding them.

4th Amendment

Gives you the right for people to be secure in their houses, papers, and etc., against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated. No one can search your property without your permission, or if they have a search warrant and probable cause.

5th Amendment

If found not guilty, he or she may not be trialed twice for the same crime.

6th Amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, to trial by an impartial jury, to be informed of criminal charges, to confront a witness, to compel witnesses to appear in court, and assistance of counsel.

7th Amendment

Guarantees jury trials in federal civil cases that deal with claims of more than twenty dollars.

8th Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

9th Amendment

Rights retained by the people.

10th Amendment

Powers not delegated by the U.S. by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people.
