Life Choices #lifestylechoices

People can chose how they live, but some life choices and living environments can prove to be extremely dangerous. Some of these are smoking, eating fast food and living in air polluted areas.

Smoking is very harmful to the human body not only because of the toxic chemicals in cigarettes, but also the addictiveness of a cigarette, more specifically the nicotine. When nicotine enters the body, it gives you an energy boost that eventually subsides, leaving you tired, maybe even depressed, and craving another cigarette. Another harmful substance in a cigarette is tobacco. Tobacco is the number one reason for deaths per year. Short-term effects of smoking are stained nails and teeth, bad breath and wrinkled, aged skin. Whereas the much more dangerous long-term effects of smoking include lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease and even death.

Fast food can also be dangerous to the human body. Most fast food is high in carbs, which causes a spike in blood sugar which can result in type 2 diabetes. Fast food is high in sugar and calories and can cause an increase in weight and heart disease. The Trans fats in fast food can raise LDL cholesterol levels (bad cholesterol), and can lower HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). Fast food is also high in sodium which can double the risk of developing high blood pressure. Sodium can also increase the risk for kidney stones, kidney disease, and stomach cancer. Fast food can cause high cholesterol and high blood pressure, which can lead to heart disease and stroke.

Air pollution is not only dangerous to the environment, but also to human health. Even just short-term effects of air pollution can be as dangerous as pneumonia and bronchitis, and can also cause irritation, nausea and headaches. Long-term effects of air pollution can prove to be as harmful as chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and even damage to the brain, nerves, liver, or kidneys.

In conclusion, you can choose how you live, but be careful because some choices can be extremely harmful and toxic and may even lead to death.
