The qualities that make a person successful at this profession:

Some of the qualities someone should have in order to be successful in Robotics Engineering are: Basically good math, science, and computer skills!

Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.

Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

The educational path for the profession:

A Bachelor of Science degree is required for most entry-level robot engineering jobs. An undergraduate B.S. degree in robotics engineering, computer engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering allows graduates to work in robotic engineering. A master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is necessary for many advanced and managerial positions. A Ph.D. is required for design and research positions.

Most robot engineers specialize in a certain branch of engineering. Typical coursework for a robot engineering degree includes advanced math, physical and life sciences, computer science, computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), physics, fluid dynamics and materials science. The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredits college and university robot engineering programs.

The salary range for the profession:

A Robotics Engineer can earn salaries between $64,000 to $96,000 based on experience and education levels. Robotics Engineers will most likely receive a salary of Eighty Eight Thousand Eight Hundred dollars ($88,800) per year.
