Frank Borman was born on March 14, 1928 in Gary, Indiana, but was raised in Tuscan, Arizona. Frank has loved airplanes since he was five years old! Frank started flying when he was only fifteen! Frank went to high school at the U.S. Military Academy. After graduating from high school, Frank joined the Air Force. Frank Borman was in Apollo 8 with James Lovell and William Anders. They all made the first manned flight around the moon. For twenty hours, Frank James and WIlliam remained seventy miles above the surface of the moon! Frank Borman became deputy director of flight crew operations for NASA after the Apollo 8 flight. Frank was chosen by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to be a member of the second astronauts. From then, Frank Borman was an astronaut.
