Lyric Poem

A Lyric poem mainly expresses personal feelings. Sometimes emotional feelings as well. This type of poem is mainly written in the present tense. Examples of it often have a specific rhyme scheme. lyric poems are also musical. Kind of like song lyrics in a way i think.

William Shakespeare

Another good example is this part of Sonnet Number 18, written by William Shakespeare:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date.

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimmed,

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance, or nature's changing course untrimmed.
