A chemical bond is a mutual attraction between nuclear and valence electrons of different atoms that bond together.

Individual atoms have a HIGHER potential that can be lowered by bonding.

Bonded atoms have a lower potential energy, therefore they're more stable.

Types of bonds

Ionic: attraction between cations and anions in a completely ionic bonding atoms are completely lost or gained.

Covalent: sharing of electron pairs between two atoms in a purely covalent bond the shared electrons are equally by the two bonded atoms

Non polar means that the electrons are equally distributed

polar means that one of them is bigger than the other

The last type of bonding is metallic, during this bond is the electric force between electrons and positivity charged metal ions. It is the sharing of free electrons among cations
