The Life-Changing Summer
One for the Books
My summer consisted of many life-changing adventures that provided thought-provoking moments. These moments have recently helped to discover more about what i want to do with my life. From Arkansas Girls' State to Washington D.C. to Praiseworks to Women of Faith, God has taught me so much about who I am and who I am to be.
- The last week of school (and the first week off), I attended Arkansas Girls' State with several other Arkadelphia friends to learn the system of federal, state, and local government and politics.
-When I won a trip to Washington D.C. through Rural Electric Cooperatives, I got a five day tour of the nation's capitol. Pictured above is the Iwo Jima memorial where we saw The Commondant's Own (Marine Corps band and silent drill battalion).
-Next is the Vietnam War memorial (one of the most moving experiences of my life).
-The next picture is at Arlington National Cemetery. We saw the Changing of the Guard ceremony as well as the graves of the Kennedy family and the home of Confederate general Robert E. Lee.
-I went to Praiseworks on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University with friends. i learned quite a bit and grew in my relationship with My God.
-The first weekend in August, my mother and I attended the Women of Faith conference in Oklahoma City, OK with several great ladies from our church.
