Galileo was born and spent his child hood in Pisa. He attended University of Pisa, but flunked out shortly after. Then he went back and showed these scientists what he knew and they gave him a degree. He also showed how wrong Aristotle was about how things fall. Aristotle thought heavier things fall faster. When all things fall at the same speed. He also invented the thermometer. He lived in Florence for most of his life.
His impact gave Issac Newton the basis for his laws. If he didn't point out that Aristotle was wrong we might have not learned that for hundreds of years.
