FACTS ABOUT ENGLAND AND THE BLACK DEATH

-- The Plague hit England around 1348 and spread throughout the Kingdom for the next two years.

-- The Plague killed about 1.5 to 2 Million people out of 4 to 5 Million people living in England at the time.

-- By the spring of 1349 the Plague had killed 6 out of every 10 people living in London, about 30,000 people.

-- The Black Death is said to have started in England when a ship came with people that had the Plague and then they spread it throughout the Kingdom.

-- In some small towns or cities if one person got the Plague then it would spread through the entire village and wipe it out completely.

MORE FACTS ABOUT THE BLACK DEATH

-- The spread of the plague could not be stopped because the people of that time had no medical knowledge of contagious diseases.

-- When people disposed of the dead bodies of the people who had died from the plague it helped spread the disease further.

-- It is estimated that up to 2/3 of the Clergy in England had died in just one year.

-- The people believed that the this Plague was a punishment from God to get rid of the  heresy in the Church.

-- People believed that if you survived the plague then God had forgiven you.

-- This was not the only occurrence for the Plague in England it showed up agin 3 to 4 more times but these break outs weren't as severe.
