Ye Hai Mohabbatein: Ekta Kapoor's New TV Show

If there is a constant battle at the Indian box-office when movies are released, a similar battle is happening with Hindi TV shows. With various television channels, solely dedicated to telecasting Hindi TV shows from various genres, there is constant competition being faced not only for the rankings of the TV shows, but also among-st the various Hindi television channels as well.

When Ekta Kapoor had teamed up with STAR Plus for her Ye Hai Mohabbatein TV show there were a tremendous amount of expectations; after her role as a producer for shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. The serial was produced under the production house of Balaji Telefilms, which is the largest television production house in the South. The show, which premiered on the 3rd of December, 2013 is a romantic soap drama which is based on Manju Kapur's (Indian novelist) novel Custody.

An urban story of two Delhi-based neighbors, Bhallas and Iyers, the show revolves around a common occurrence in the Indian society; socially unacceptable romance as a result of a clash of cultures. The lead actors Dr. Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla and Raman Kumar Bhalla are played by Divyanka Tripathi and Karan Patel, respectively. Their love story begins after Raman's marriage has ended. However, the common interest that brings them together is the commonly shared affection for Raman's daughter Ruhi.

The serial explores the possibility of having a second chance at love. Depicting day-to-day issues that are faced by modern couples, the show is easy to connect to. The show has also brought together veteran artists, Abhay Bhargav, Neena Kulkarni, Shenaz Rizwan, Kaushal Kapoor and Ruhanika Dhawan to play extremely pivotal characters in the show.

Not only does this show mark the return of popular TV stars, Karan Patel and Divyanka Tripathi, but it also is Ekta's return to the channel as a producer. Having created many iconic characters throughout the previous generations, where she had celebrated many a success Ekta is absolutely confident about the show being received well by the Indian audience.

With just three months in its kitty, Ekta's show is a roaring success. Riding high on the TRP chart, this 11 PM show, which runs from Monday to Saturday, has surely got the Indian audience glued to their television screens.
