Coco Chanel's Life Changing Designs
Gabrielle Chanel's Hard Knock Child Life
Gabrielle Chanel was born on August 19, 1883 in Samur, France. Her mother died when she was 6 and she had 4 other siblings. When her mother died, her father couldn't take care of the family, so he sent her to "Catholic monastery of Aubazine orphanage." During this time, Chanel found her life very hard leaving her family, dealing with her mother's death, and her loneliness, until nun's raised her, taught her how to sew, and worship God. She left the orphanage at age 18.
If you visit Samur, France this is what it would look like this today.
People call Gabrielle Chanel Coco Chanel. After she left the orphanage, she had a very short career as a singer and would preform at clubs in Vichy and Moulins. Because of the songs she sang, they called her Coco “Shortened version of cocotte (the French word for ‘kept woman')," said Chanel. Chanel met Etienne Balsan during her short career. In 1908 she became his mistress and lived with him for three years. At age 23, still mistress of Balsan, she started creating and designing hats which soon turned into a commercial venture, which led to her first store.
Etienne Balsan was a textile heir and a rich ex-military officer.
Chanel's Beautiful Life
We know that Chanel was born August 19, 1883 in Samur, France, which led to Coco having a hard childhood from 1889-1896. Chanel opened her first clothes shop in 1910 on Paris’s Rue Cambon selling hats. After a little while, she added stores in two more stores and started making clothes. She had more people wanting to buy her clothes when she made a dress she designed out of an old jersey on a chilly day. When she wore it, lots of people asked her about where she got the dress. She said that she would be willing to make one for them.
Chanel made a lot of new clothes during 1910-1924, such as over-the-top faux jewelry, Gypsy skirts, and glittering evening wear made from crystal and jet beads. Later, Chanel met Ernest Beaux, a perfume maker, who was already working on a perfume for someone. When Coco saw what he was making, she smelled it, made suggestions, and begged him for the perfume. In 1924, Coco released Chanel No. 5-the first perfume ever to have a designer's name. In 1969, Chanel’s amazing life became the main point for the Broadway musical Coco starring Katharine Hepburn as the amazing Chanel.
Chanel lived a wonderful life, but sadly died at her apartment in the Hotel Ritz on January 10, 1971.
This is the legendary perfume that Chanel sold that is still very popular today.
