Fun with my FLASHES 13-14
Franklin Township Community Schools
Home of the FLASHES!
“Transformational leaders don’t start by denying the world around them instead they describe a future they’d like to create.” – Seth Godin
Being a part of my Flashes Family is important to me and keeps my work in perspective. I am lucky enough to spend time with our school community and be a part of their school life. It is both rewarding and tons of fun!
The student cheering section is the highlight of the games and events. I enjoy visiting with students during half time.
Many of our schools have video announcements. At Kitley Elementary, the students have guests come in to share special messages.
Who wasn't tired of all the snow this winter! It was one of the coldest days so I decided to go outside to greet my high school students as they arrived to show them it was cold but not too cold to be in school.
Our Robotics Team, AutoFlashes competed in the Marion County event taking the Excellence Award. Mayor Ballard came to school to present the trophy to our team who then traveled to Anaheim for the global competition in May.
Although we had a rough winter or what we called the Polar Vortex, I became pretty popular in the township because of school delays and closing. Early on during the snowy weather students wanted to erect a statue in the high school parking lot. Here was their thought, lol.
Franklin Central High School is one of few schools in the state that have a radio station. WRFT 91.5 FM is on the air 24 x 7. The station also hosts a township show as well as a pop culture show once a month. The sports show airs each Friday.
Here is the Flashes Hall of Fame Wall in my office. What a great place to display t-shirts from our FLASHES! As I began receiving t-shirts from various teams and for different events, I thought it would be fun to show them off and also see them daily as a reminder of the students that make #FTCSC as special place.
The performing arts department at Franklin Central High School provides much enjoyment throughout the year as well as amazing opportunities for our students. The Franklin Central Concert Choir made up of the FC Singers and Chamber Choir have been Indiana STATE CHAMPIONS in 2012 and 2013. The FC Singers Show Choir was named the 2014 Indiana STATE CHAMPIONS. This talented group of young adults have incredible school spirit and represent Franklin Central well.
The Boy's Basketball team won the sectional title and much to my surprise they wanted me to cut a piece of the net too! Wow, my FLASHES make me proud!
Ashley and Claire invited me to the Riley Dance Marathon. It was a record year for our FLASHES! These gals are amazing student leaders and organized a fun-filled night all to support children who need the services of Riley Hospital.
It's common for the media to cover a Marion County School. I am here talking about the statewide testing program and challenges we face making sure we have a successful testing session for our students.
Kiwanis International chartered a Key Club at Franklin Central. This civic organization is a great opportunity for our students to give back to the school and community. I was in Key Club in high school too.
Mr. Day, Principal at Franklin Township Middle School West, has been named Division 7 Principal of the Year. His wife, son and I tried to surprise him but got caught outside the school at the end of the day. CONGRATULATIONS Principal Day. We are very proud of you
The funniest part of watching the game was the student fan section. I sat near them and each time a foul ball was hit into the stands some of the students shouted "Save Dr. Flora." Love my FLASHES!
