Salmonella:How to Stay Safe
Salmonella is a bacteria in a infection called Salmonellosis.
Salmonella has around 1,200,000 cases each year in the U.S. In North Carolina there are around 400,000 cases of infections. There 400 reported deaths per year in the U.S.
How to Recognize It
The infected will have symptoms up to 12 to 72 hours after infections. They include diarrhea,fever and vomiting. This can last for 4 to 7 days.
The victim will need plenty of fluids and antibiotics. If the diarrhea is really bad they intravenous fluids.
I would alert the parents for info. Then I would follow the steps. If severe I would call 911.
