U.S. Suspects More Direct Threats Beyond ISIS

Published: September 20, 2014

Intelligence and law enforcement officials recently found out that another Syrian group, that is supposedly led by a figure who was once part of Osama bin Laden's inner circle, allegedly posed threats to America and Europe. American officials have identified the group as "Khorasan" which have formed during the past year in Syria. There are suspicions that Khorasan may aim for attacking the United States by using concealed explosives. Officials have confirmed that the groups leader is Muhsin al-Fadhli, a senior Qaeda operative who has been rumoured to be so close to Bin Laden that he was among the small group of people who knew about the tragedy on Sept. 11, 2001. Syria has become a popular site for Islamic extremists from other nations who have used parts of the country as a base to plot attacks.

Liberty and the lack of equality are linked to this story.

Islamic terrorist groups do not support United States' ideal democracy. They do not respect the way the U.S. runs their government. For example citiziens in Syria attacked and killed U.S. journalists because they do not believe in the freedom of press. These terrorist groups want to enforce their own Islamic laws and limit peoples religious freedom. One thing that they want to eliminate is woman's rights. Islamic groups do not support the U.S. choices  and the freedom and privileges that our government allows us to have. They also do not believe in equality. Groups like Khorasan believe in men domination, whereas the U.S. tries to enforce equality for every citizen.
