HENRY GROSECLOSE: FOUNDING FATHER OF THE FFA
Kristina Phelps, 1st Period
Henry Groseclose is credited with the title of the "Father of the FFA". He was born in 1892, in Ceres, Virginia. He attended Washington and Lee University and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI). Groseclose also helped start the first FFA chapter in Virginia in 1928, which sparked chapters across the state. Henry was a state supervisor. He was a national officer as well, serving first as executive secretary from 1928 to 1930 and and treasurer from 1930-1941. He is most famous for giving the FFA its name. Henry Groseclose died in 1950. Without his support, guidance, and perserverance, would there even be an FFA today?
