3 Wars Tear Rome, Carthage Apart

Romans fight elephants in Spain.

AUGUST 10th, 218 BC- Another war has started between the Romans and the Carthaginians. Romans hope that it is not as destructive as the last war.

The Romans and Carthaginians are at it again because of territory. While Rome owns Spain, the Carthaginians want to buy Spain from Rome. Because Rome declined the offer, it has started an all out war.

An Oracle predicted, "There will be a third war. But do not despair, for it will be the last war for a long time. From now on, you may call these 3 battles 'The Punic Wars.'"

The army mentions the first war to be "the most destructive conflict ever." The Emperor is even considering selling Spain to Carthage to stop the war.

Rome Fashion for You

By Meredith Zoffel

Scientists have studied that 9 out of 10 Roman women desire blonde hair and pale skin. This trend is believed to have come from seeing the blond barbarians marching into Rome. The 9 women, in the next year, have purchased blonde wigs.

Roman women are known to wear many different varieties of jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and brooches on their togas. They purchase these accessories from gypsies in the streets

There has been news that even slaves are wearing purple stripes on their togas and/or tunics, even though people should only wear purple if they are a relative of a governor or the Emperor.
