Lena Dunham goes from topless shocker
Lena Dunham goes from topless shocker to carpet stunner in red at the Golden Globe Awards
Lena Dunham cannot be tamed.
The 28-year-old went from Lady Godiva to Lady In Red for the annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday evening.
Never one to do what is expected, unlike most celebrities who post pretty pictures of themselves getting read, the Girls creator let fans see a lot more than they bargained for as she got dressed.
Lena let it all hang out in a picture posted on Instagram by producer Jenner Konner, opening up her robe and posing topless - sans for some flesh coloured nipple coverings.
Not the least bit worried about the rather revealing shot, the actress smirked at the camera and squeezed her own breast.
Jenni captioned the image: '#FREETHENIPPLE cover.'
But fortunately for the live broadcast of the Globes, the award nominee decided to keep her shock tactics to the hotel room and not the carpet.
The 28-year-old - who was nominated for but missed out in her category Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series - wore a striking red dress by Zac Posen.
Her show also failed to win in its category Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy, losing out to Transparent.
The dress was a rather special one for the star as she revealed to Ryan Seacreast on E! that the famed designer used to her babysitter.
She said: '[I'm wearing] Zac Posen my former babysitter. I'm sure my parents paid him $4.75. It was the going rate, it was the late Nineties.'
The red satin gown featured a Bateau neckline with geometric seams and with a high-low hemline.
Leaving her history of red carpet blunders behind her, the writer paired the dress with matching red pointed pumps that had an unusual folded detail.
Lena further accessorised the look with a pearl ring and bracelet and left her hair in a unfussy short straightened bob.
The actress left her boyfriend Jack Antonoff at home and walked the carpet with her co-star Andrew Rannells, who wore a classic black tuxedo with white shirt and pocket square.
While he was not there, the star's boyfriend was still in her heart.
A picture of Jack with Allison Williams, who plays Marnie on Girls, recently surfaced on the internet but Lena would not reveal if fans will get to see him on the show - but did say you will hear him.
She told Ryan: 'I will not reveal [if he will guest star] but he did have a pivotal role in creating Marnie's sound.'
While she happily posed just in pasties and without makeup on Instagram, Lena said she had deleted her Twitter recently as she often struggles with the negative attention she gets online.
She told E!: 'I deleted Twitter because I'm trying to create a safer space for myself emotionally.
'People threaten my life and tell me what a cow I am, so I check it occasionally, but it's not the same co-dependence with Twitter I once shared.
'There's a dark side of the internet. There's a lot of people I love on Twitter but you can't read those without reading deranged neocons telling you you should be buried under a pile of rocks.'
