Duke Ellington


Duke Ellington grew up and was raised in New York City, New York. He was born in 1899 and died in 1974. He played the piano, he was a bandleader, a director, and he sang. He won many awards and he            was an inspiration to many young artist. He got his inspiration from many artist, witch made him a better artist.


Duke Ellington won 3 awards for being a composer, a pianist, and a singer. He deserved these awards because he was a hard worker and never gave up. He got his inspiration from James P. Johnson and Willlie "The Lion" Smith.

Duke Ellington had the chance to record his song that he composed  with his orchestra. The performance was in August 1931, in front of Brunswick Records. Also, a video of him performing in front of a live audience.  

Some of his personality traits are:  Hardworking, loud, funny, creative, friendly, and independent. His main obstacle was that he had lung cancer, and it caused him to die. He is now remembered has a hard working artist who was an inspiration to many artist.
