January 13, 1915 - Earthquake in Avezzano Italy kills 29,800

In 1915 a deadly earthquake hit Avezzano, Italy. It was very deadly. It killed nearly 30,000 people. The felt was throughout Italy. The effects were equal or nearly VII on the Mercalli scale. Many people were left without homes and food. The catastrophe was one of the most violent earthquakes in Italy seismic system.Due to the political events that marked life in Italy on the eve of war, traces of the earthquake had soon all but disappeared.

January 19th - 1st German Zeppelin attack over Great Britain, 4 die

The day was January 1915. Great Britain had used balloons for war. The German had carried out the first Zeppelin raid against the Britain. Killing two and injuring sixteen.The Kaiser, somewhat reluctantly, granted such permission.
