Abraham Maslow studied Humanism. He brought to psychology his theory called Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. He lived from 1908 to 1970 in the 20th century. Events that went on through the course of that time WWI, WWII, Cold War, and the great depression. Without him and his studies, psychology wouldn't of had a big as role as it does now.
Maslow was important to society in many ways. People refer to his Hierarchy of needs all the time. I even used it in Career Education when determining what I wanted my life to be like when I am older. The hierarchy of needs are steps one takes to reaching self actualization, which is the best your life can be. He made people believe that they had the ability to control the way there life would be like in the future. The time period might of had an affect on his studies also. I believe that the great depression had a say on Maslow's thought process. I think this because many people were out of jobs and depressed, so Maslow believed that those people had to make there life better with there own capability.
