3D Printed Penguin Ornament
What is it?
My Project is a 3D printed penguin ornament. It has detachable arms and a hole at the top to put string through so it can be hung.
Why did you make it?
I made this penguin because there was a 3D printed ornament contest. This led me in the direction of making an ornament. I decided to make a penguin for my ornament.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Making my ornament was easier than I expected. I faced only minor problems until i finished my first version. The arms could not be printed because they were hanging. To make it work I decided to create detachable arms. I face numerous problems including trying to create arms the same shape before I realized that you can ungroup objects. Then, I copied the arms and changed the are original arms to holes. I then had to measure the arms so I could make the copies a tiny bit smaller. I then faced a problem measuring the height with the ruler. To solve this problem I turned my object sideways.
What did you like/dislike about the project?
In my project I liked how the arms and the facial features are not symmetrical. I did this on purpose. I did not dislike anything in particular. If I were to do this again I would no† change anything. I think I did a good job for one of my first 3D printing projects.
