- emulating: match or surpass

- sustain: strengthen or support physically or mentally.

- visions: the faculty or state of being able to see

- departed: deceased

- obsolete: no longer produced or used; out of date

- plucked: take hold of something
- memorable: worth remembering or easily remembered, esp. because of being special or unusual

- confess: admit or state that one has committed a crime or is at fault in some way

- despicable: deserving hatred and contempt

- chronicle: a factual written account of important or historical events in the order of their occurrence

- guarded: cautious and having possible reservations

- whirlwind: a column of air moving rapidly around and around in a cylindrical or funnel shape

- prosperous: successful in material terms; flourishing financially

- cue: a thing said or done that serves as a signal to an actor or other performer to enter or to begin their speech or performance

- scrambled: make one's way quickly or awkwardly up a steep slope or over rough ground by using one's hands as well as one's feet
