He is 39 years old and he is Ukrainian. He was raised on a farm in Sydney, Australia and his parents' Ukrainian practicality did not consider photography as a suitable job.
He covers history that shape events including the Iraq War, the trial of Saddam Hussein, child labor in India, Afghanistan elections, after math of Japan's Tsunami, and Chernobyl disaster.
His photography has earned 3 World Press Photo Awards and the John Faber Award from Overseas Press Club. July 2013 he joined Reportage by Getty Images. He also contributes to The New York Times, Times Magazine, and Der Spiegel. His works also appear in newspapers and magazines worldwide.
