"Eastern half of old Rome"
The Byzantine Empire was the old eastern half of the Roman
Empire. The Byzantine Empire started around 415 A.D and ended sometime around
1453 A.D. The Empire lasted so long because there was an organized government,
it didn’t get too big, and they minded their own business. Byzantines Capital
was Constantinople. A lot of Byzantine ideas were spread into Russia through
trade. Byzantine contributed Justinian’s code, art, and architecture. Their art
and architecture showed through their churches.
