More American Than Most Believe
1. It's not how immigration has influenced by race but how racism has undoubtedly influenced immigration. It is clear that today, immigration laws are exclusionary are doing more harm than good by stigmatizing minorities.
2. Similarities in immigration from the 19th century to the 20th is the simply the motivation behind immigration, a better life full of opportunity and freedom, the American Dream. The differences are solely that racism is now disguised and that once upon a time it was said that America was built on the backs of immigrants, where today immigrants are being grouped and branded in a negative light.
3. Through media and politics, race, racism and immigration have become mainstream. There are various viewpoints, however, a vast majority of Americans seem to believe that immigrants are taking their seat at the table. I believe this to be the fault of policy and negative media attention.
