France has plenty of very popular foods. While at the same time has many foods that require an acquired taste. Some appetizers include; snails known as escargots dipped in butter sauce, scallops and mushrooms in a creamy sauce, pastries filled with chicken and creamy sauce, sausages and pates, goose liver pates with mushroom like truffles, and crepes. Who first settled in Paris and why?
In ancient times, a Celtic tribe called the parisii lived near what is now Paris. They lived on an island in the Seine River which is now known as the Ile de la Cite. In 52 B.C., Romans invaded and settled a colony on both sides of the river. This colony later became known Paris in 300 A.D.. (Berensa)
