January 17, 1893 Annexation of Hawaii
The queen of Hawaii was over thrown and were replaced by a Provisional government. Sanford B. Dole became President of the Republic in 1894.
January 17,1898 Treaty of Paris
Agreement that resulted in the Spanish Empire surrendering control of Cuba and ceding Puerto Rico. Along with with the Islands of Guam and the Philippines to the United States.
February 15, 1898 U.S.S Maine gets Blown Up
U.S Battleship Maine blew up in the Havana Harbor. The Muckrakers blamed on Spain; which caused tension between the two. And led to the Spanish American War.
April 25, 1898 Spanish American War
Rising tension between the U.S and Spain that resulted in a end to Colonial rule in America. Resulting in the U.S obtaining territories in the Pacific and Latin America.
1904 Roosevelt Corollary
Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine which stated that the United States would intervene as a last resort with conflicts involving the European and Latin America countries.And insuring that other nations in the west would fulfill their obligations international creations.

United States took control of the Panama Canal from France in 1904. Greatly reduced the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific ocean.

British intercept the Zimmerman Telegraph reveling Germany's plan to ask the Mexican government to attack the U.S in exchange for Texas, Arizona etc.

May 18, 1917 Selective Service Act
Government had the power to draft soldiers. The men they drafted were between 21 and 30 years old. 10 million men across the country had registered.
September 26,1918 Battle of Argonne Forest
600,00 Soldiers and 50 tanks made their way to the Argonne Forest. Where Germany had their forts located. AEP soldiers invaded; and German soldiers surrendered .
November 11, 1918 WW1 ends
German surrender after Alvin York killed roughly 25 German single-handily. nd captured another 132.
June 28,1919 Treaty of Versailles
Peace treaty at the end of WW1 that ended the state of war; between Germany and the Allied Powers.
