-An American was said to live a simpler lifestyle, based on equal opportunity and self-determination. A European is the opposite: heavily entwined in a complex social structure.

#2. How are Europeans transformed into Americans?

Europeans who came to Americans leaving a specific cultural, national, political, and social setting and were put into a new system, where different values were necessary. A new generation born into these setting was getting further away from their parents, first immigrations, in the terms of social and cultural values, and also further away from their ancestral lands. New generations was integrated into new political system and participate in the development of the New World. At the same time, Europe was transforming as well on different values and experienced different collective memory.

An American is one that is patriotic about their country. This helps us distinct American identity by know who's not really on our side.
