Brief History

In the 16th century Europeans began to transport African slaves. Even though the Europeans invaded their land. In the 18th century ships from Britain took goods to Africa. They took slaves from there to the West Indies and took sugar back to Britain. This was called the Triangular Trade. The 19th century is when the slave trade ended, but the Europeans colonized most of Africa.  African countries became independent in the 1950's-1980's.

Political Organization

Africa is a constitutional democracy with a three-branch system of government and an independent judiciary. Even though South Africa suffered with some major problems, including apartheid. One protester, went to jail for going against apartheid and became one of South Africa's best presidents.

Education

In Africa today, there is 128 million kids, and 17 million do not attend schools. The children who attend school learn very little since the teachers aren't very well trained. Although some African countries have no problem with education. Now, many organizations try and help the crisis in education in Africa.

Economy

Africa has many valuable resources such as diamonds, iron, silver, etc.   It's full of many rich resources, but many of the people are very poor. But Africa's economy is growing at very fast rate.
