Feudal Japan


1)What is Feudalism?

Feudalism is the political and social system of the Middle Ages in Europe, in witch lords gave land to vassals in exchange for service and loyalty.

2)What led to the rise of Feudalism in Japan?

It started due the increase in power of the daimyo and the decrease in power of the government.

3)What are 3 art forms from ancient Japan and how did they impact/influence society at that time period?

1. drama 2. podiatry 3. calligraphy

4)What was the social structure of Feudal Japan? Be sure to explain why each class is placed where they were in the Japanese social structure.

emperor is at the top because he rules the land. Shogun/daimyo he was the largest land owner or most important daimyo. Samurai worriers were 3rd because they were the worriors of Japan. Coming in 4th is peasants/artisans they are 4th because they dont have much but have the largest population. Last but not least is the merchants they are last because they have no goods that  society needs.
