Zoinks! by Dale Culp

A WebFiction Published Thrice Weekly

FREAKwently Asked Questions

Hey, there! Dale, here. I'm the author of this hot mess. You got questions? I got answers!

  • What is this?
This is the FAQ for Zoinks!, a webfiction written and published by yours truly.
  • What is a webfiction?
A webfiction is a serialized novel, published in small, bite-sized portions like a series of blog posts. I wanted to do a webcomic in the worst way, but I can't draw and no one seems interested in picking up a pen for me, so I'm publishing it like this.
  • Who is "yours truly?"
That would be me. For more information on me, you will find a profile page conveniently located right here on Tackk. And that's about as much detail as I'm providing in this space. If you really, really want to know more about me, follow me on Twitter.
  • What is Zoinks! about?
It's about a transgender girl in her mid-20s who is just trying to keep her life together and make some money on the side as a ghost hunter who solves mysteries. It's like Ghostbusters meets Scooby Doo, but with cam-girls, transgender folk, nerds and geeks.
  • How often is Zoinks! published?
Do you really not know what "thrice weekly" means?

*sigh* Ok. Zoinks! is published 3 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Each chapter is divided into 6 acts which means it lasts for 2 weeks.
I suppose "episodes" and "scenes" would have made more sense, but given the nature of this project... I don't even know anymore. It is what it is.
Also, there may even be some special side stories published on rare occasions that are non-canonical and happen outside of the main plot arc. Don't even try to figure out how that's going to work...

See how much less complicated this was when the schedule was simply, "thrice weekly?"
  • Is the story finished?
Ha! Not by a long shot! As a matter of fact, I should be hard at work wrapping up Chapter 4 at this very moment. Instead, I'm writing this dumb FAQ.
Fortunately, with the amount of content I've already finished, we won't even get to Chapter 4 until six weeks from now. Following that, the story just goes on and on. It basically never ends. You'll see!
  • Who are the characters?
See the Character Bios page for more info.
  • Where does it take place?
Most, if not all, of the story takes place in the fictional city of Wilkes-Barre, PA, which bears a striking resemblance to the non-fictional city of Wilkes-Barre, PA but with several key differences. I'll let you try to figure out what they are.
  • You mentioned cam-girls, earlier. Does that mean there's nudity?
Only what you can see in text -- which means that OF COURSE there's nudity! Adult-situations, crass humor, bad language, graphic violence, transphobia, homosexuality and trigger warnings galore. Maybe even human-on-human/human-on-ghost/ghost-on-ghost AND ghost-on-human sex scenes? Hmmmm....
  • Why did you create this?
    Boredom, mostly.
  • What inspired it?
Pretty much, I was inspired by everything. I already mentioned a few of my biggest influences, but see if you can't find more.
  • The homepage states that this a true story. Is it? Really?
Never let facts get in the way of a good story.
  • I have a question not listed here.
Simply direct all questions to the email form below and I will be more than happy to address them, time permitting.
