A Website About Natures Janitors
Decomposers are natures clean up crew. There are two types of decomposers, they are decomposers and scavengers. Decomposers break down dead organisms to get their energy, carbon and nutrients. Bacteria can break down any organism one ounce of soil contains about 40 million bacteria. Fungi is another type of decomposers they grow as a branching network. Fungi only grow and eat exposed organic matter like trees and logs. Worms are still fall into the umbrella of decomposers but they are scavengers. If a worm eats a pear the pear will decay faster than without the worm. Some other examles of scavengers are flies, bugs and cockroaches.
